Shelving renovation II

After discovering in 2019 that some beams and planks were in worse condition than it seemed at first glance, a follow-up renovation was planned in 2020. It would be a big job: ten braces and all the planks. Fortunately, this was made possible thanks to generous sponsorship.

The method was as follows: the brace was fixed, after which it could be released from the girder (the support beam under the planks) and the finch (the stone support on the mill hull). Then the brace was lowered, where the size was copied. The brace was then secured to the fin using a wall anchor. Then attach to the beam, also with a carriage bolt. The planks were cut to size one by one and reattached. By placing a Teflon ring between the beam and plank, the wood will dry faster from now on. To prevent water from entering the strut base onto the finch, we have installed a rubber protection strip and so-called drip slats.
