Shelving renovation I

We started renovating the rack at the end of October 2019. Interim inspections revealed that wood rot had occurred at some connection points of the beams (the support beams under the planks). From a safety point of view, it was decided to replace all girders.

The method was as follows: first a trestle was placed above the beam to be replaced, with which the old beam was fixed. The beam was then detached from the wall, brace and counter. The old beam was then brought down, after which we could take over the exact dimensions. Holes for carriage bolts were drilled in the exact same location. The beam was then brought up and secured to the wall, brace and beam with carriage bolts. On a good day without any setbacks we were able to replace 3 girders. The job was completed at the beginning of December. During this period we also saw that some braces and a large number of planks were worse than they first appeared. This became a project for 2020.
